Bonnie Amoia, MBA, FHFMA

Bonnie Amoia, MBA, FHFMA has 40 years experience in senior financial management positions, including Chief Financial Officer. Bonnie’s extensive healthcare knowledge base and her hand’s-on approach give her the ability to address issues quickly and effectively resulting in substantial cost savings and revenue enhancements. Most recently, she has served as Interim VP of Reimbursement and Interim Director Finance, during which time she has restructured the workflow to be more effective and efficient. She enhanced the monthly revenue test to better validate the revenue reported in the financial statements. Other consulting engagements include serving as a Federal Monitor team member and as an Independent Review Organization to review and report compliance to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for Corporate Integrity Agreements. She has earned Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Fellow status, is a Past-President of the Hudson Valley Chapter and served on the National Advisory Council. Bonnie has an MBA from PACE University.

Marianne Muise, MBA, FHFMA

Marianne Muise, MBA, FHFMA has over 40 years of healthcare financial management experience including as Chief Financial Officer, with a proven track record of improving profitability, enhancing operational performance and strengthening strategic direction. She has served as Interim CFO, AVP of Finance and Interim Director of Reimbursement, where she restructured and automated the department’s processes and developed comprehensive analytics to validate revenue and accounts receivable and improve internal and external reporting. Other consulting engagements include serving as a Federal Monitor team member and as an Independent Review Organization to review and report compliance to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for Corporate Integrity Agreements. She has an MBA from Mount Saint Mary’s College and a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. She has earned Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Fellow status, is a Past-President of the Hudson Valley Chapter, served on the National Advisory Council and as the past chair on the National Chapter Advancement Team. She served on the HFMA Chatper 2.0 Task Force and Chaired the Governance and Leadership workgroup. Marianne is the recipient of the 2009 HFMA Frederick C. Morgan Award for Individual Achievement.

Kristin Cash-Holland

Kristin Cash-Holland has over 25 year of experience that has been dedicated to the healthcare and academic industries. She is an experienced leader with a broad background in not-for-profit and healthcare finance, administration, process improvement, post-acquisition integration, compliance, and auditing. She has been successful in restructuring the finance department’s workflow to produce timely and accurate reporting, while continuously driving workflow and productivity improvements. She has automated the month end close process and restructured the budget process be more inclusive with the user managers, which gives more credibility to the approved budget. Prior to joining Healthcare Management Solutions, Kristin was the CFO at SUNY New Paltz Foundation where she was responsible for the endowment, donor relations, and all financial and compliance reporting. She also served as the VP/Controller at RestorixHealth and as CFO at Saint Francis Hospital. She has experience as an auditor with Ernst & Young and as an accountant/bookkeeper at Ulster Community College Foundation. Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from SUNY New Paltz. She is an active member of the Hudson Valley NY Chapter of HFMA, and past Secretary and Treasurer of the board. She served on the New Paltz Central School District Audit and Finance Committee.

Janet Cusack, FHFMA, MPA

Janet Cusack, FHFMA, MPA has over twenty-five years of Revenue Cycle Management experience, including over 10 years in management and administrative level positions. She has expertise in maximizing the use of Patient Accounting software for efficient and effective operations and improved cash collections. Janet’s consulting engagements include revenue cycle assessments and workplans for improvement, interim management as Vice President of Revenue Cycle, Director of Revenue Cycle and Computer system implementations. She has developed automated processes and tools resulting in a more effective and efficient workflow. Prior to joining HMS, Janet served as the Administrative Revenue Cycle Director for Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY and Greater Hudson Valley Health System, which includes three hospitals (acute, sole community and critical access), a nursing home and physician practices. While at ORMC, Janet has experience in Decision Support, Charge Description Master, Contract Performance, Denial Reduction initiatives, Patient Access (Registration/Pre-Reg/Centralized Scheduling), and Accounts Receivable Management. Janet was recognized as a mentor and educator in the Organizational Excellence initiative. Janet is LEAN Certified as a Kaizen Specialist. She is a strong project manager focusing on process improvement and has led teams through successful system installations (EPIC and Eclipsys), and many other initiatives that resulted in the receipt of the Eclipsys Center of Excellence Award for denial reductions and improved cash collections. Janet has an MPA from Marist College.

Jennifer Kusnic, CPA, MBA

Jennifer Kusnic, MBA, CPA Sr. Consultant, is a “results oriented” Senior Manager with over 40 years of experience in Finance, Reimbursement and Administration. Her experience includes a broad background in financial reporting, reimbursement, managed care, planning, budgeting, information systems and business operations. Jennifer has assisted clients in Medicare Cost Report and Budget preparation. She has assisted and coordinated various special financial projects regarding operations and reimbursement. Prior to joining HMS, Jennifer held financial management positions at healthcare facilities in both New York and New Jersey including CFO of an acute care hospital and Executive Vice President for an MSO. She was a Supervising Auditor at Pannel Kerr Foster and an auditor at Blue Cross for Medicare Cost Reports. Jennifer holds a B.S. in Accounting from City University of New York, and a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from Farleigh Dickinson University. She is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association

William Ortiz

William Ortiz has over twenty years of Revenue Cycle Management. He is able to assess operations and implement efficiencies to improve operations and increase cash collections. Will has a hands-on approach to the revenue cycle process. As a billing representative and then in various PFS management positions, he has been successful in leading change to streamline work processes and enhance the use of system functionality all with the goals of improving cash collections and reducing denials. Prior to joining HMS, Will was the Director of Patient Financial Services at Greater Hudson Valley Health System (which includes Orange Regional Medical Center and Catskill Regional Medical Center) and at Jacobi Medical Center. He was a Consulting Supervisor for McBee Associates where he was responsible for engagements focusing on reducing payer denials, income recovery for post-acute care transfers and the Three-day payment window. Many of Will’s projects focus on income recovery for post-acute care payment reductions and Medicare Bad Debts. He led the EPIC conversion for Patient Accounts at GHVHS and is EPIC certified for the Billing functions. Will has a Bachelor’s of Science from Lehman College in Health Administration and Computer Application. Will is an active member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of HFMA.

Lisa Raab, MBA

Lisa Raab, MBA, has over 37 years of experience dedicated to the healthcare industry. She has assisted clients preparing and defending appeals with NYS Department of Health and NGS-Medicare, prepared various schedules for Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs, prepared third party rate analysis, the revenue budget and developed a monthly revenue test to validate net patient service revenue as reported in the financial statements. She manages cost report preparation and associated audits, as well as NYS DSH and CMS S-10 audits. She has held senior reimbursement positions, including Director of Reimbursement at Hospital for Joint Diseases, and as a Medicare-Blue Cross Auditor. She has expertise in preparing and analyzing the Medicare and New York State cost reports, preparing third party rate analysis, coordinating appeals, audits, and evaluating settlements. She has experience is filing Certificate of Need applications and related financial projections. Lisa has an MBA from The Hagan School of Business at Iona College and a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in Accounting.

Susan Schoepp, CPA

Susan Schoepp, CPA, has over 35 years of experience dedicated to the healthcare industry. Prior to joining HMS, Susan held various financial management positions at NY Presbyterian-Lawrence Hospital, including Vice President of Finance, where she was responsible for financial reporting and operations of the budget, health information management, revenue cycle and finance divisions. Prior to that she was a consultant at the Max Group LLC and Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP with extensive experience in financial statement audits, third party rate audit and analysis, merger and acquisition analysis, preparing cost reports and providing operational reviews of the revenue cycle functions. Susan also served as a Medicare-Blue Cross Auditor. She has expertise in preparing and analyzing the Medicare and New York State cost reports, preparing third party rate analysis and analyzing operational workflows and efficiencies. Susan has a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in Accounting and is a CPA in the State of NY. She is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Peter Somlai

Peter Somlai, has over 40 years of healthcare financial management experience, with a concentration on federal and state reimbursement issues including the preparation and review of hospital cost reports. He has held a number of positions focusing on various aspects of health care finance including employment as a hospital budget and reimbursement director and as a supervisor with the Medicaid Fiscal Intermediary. He also served as a manager with a Big 4 Accounting firm performing the third-party rate account reviews for the hospital audits, responsible for hospital reimbursement retainer engagements and cost report compliance reviews. His representative experience and accomplishments include preparing reimbursement rate appeals for hospitals, nursing homes and other health care providers covering New York State, Medicaid, and outpatient payment issues. He has represented and assisted hospitals in negotiations with third-party intermediaries during audit exit conferences (DSH, ICR, HCRA and Medicare WS S-10 audits) and assessed, analyzed, and projected financial impact of new reimbursement regulations and other issues impacting health care facilities including but not limited to Budget Revenue preparation. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Clarkson University. He is an advanced member of the Hudson Valley Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). He has been a speaker and instructor on various reimbursement issues for HFMA

Nate St. Yves

Nate St. Yves has over 10 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience. He is an expert in all aspects of the Meditech revenue cycle modules.  Nate has dedicated his career to improving system functionality.  He specializes in MEDITECH EHR systems and data extraction and reporting, coding optimization, reimbursement calculations, revenue cycle workflows, SPARCS submissions, and payment variance tools..   He has developed various reports to identify problems related to revenue integrity and payment variances.  Prior to joining HMS, Nate was Financial Analyst for the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, and was Sr. Billing & Accounts Receivable Implementation Specialist for Medical Information Technology (Meditech) in Westwood, MA. Nate has a Bachelors in Business Management and Computer Information System.  He is also a Meditech BAR subject matter expert. Nate is a member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of HFMA.

Kristen Zebrowski, FHFMA, CPA

Kristen Zebrowski, CPA, FHFMA has more than 25 years of experience in the Healthcare Industry and has a proven track record in developing internal controls, redesigning work processes, and leading special projects. Kristen has taken the lead on many financial and pension audits, and 990 and abandoned property filings. She is able to quickly assess the current state and provide direction as well as develop new analytical and reporting tools for efficiency and effectiveness. She has managed pension audits and abandoned property reporting to bring financial reporting into compliance and to develop the Voluntary Disclosure Report and Corrective Action Plans with the IRS and NYS. She developed AR monitoring and valuation tools and has been instrumental in streamlining reporting and financial analysis. Prior to joining Healthcare Management Solutions, Kristen has held various senior level management positions at healthcare facilities and was a Senior Manager at KPMG LLP. Kristen holds a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Business Administration from Pace University. She is a Past President of the Hudson Valley NY Chapter and Past Regional Executive for Region 2 of HFMA. She is currently the Regional Treasurer for Region 2. She also served on HFMA’s Chapter Advancement Team. Kristen also earned her fellow certification with HFMA.
